Alaska is the ultimate spot for adventure in the United States. The state is massive and has so much to explore ranging from backcountry adventures and wildlife to large towns and great restaurants. We took 8 days to explore the state and to drive from Anchorage to Denali to Fairbanks and back. Here is the full 8-day adventure and thanks so much for watching it! Let me know what you think in the comments. Alaska is amazing and I cannot wait to go back. 450 Hp 1930 Fairbanks Morse 2 stroke Diesel engine. This is our Fairbanks Morse 6 cylinder engine running; you can see the smoke rings. This engine was attached to a generator to make electricity for a sawmill in Orleans, CA. The exhaust was originally piped underground for sound and fumes control. It has 450 HP 🤍 300 RPM and weights 70,000 lbs. It was delivered to the ranch when the museum was only an idea in 1993. It took 3 forklifts and a hay squeeze to lift it, the truck drove away, and the cribbing was removed from the trailer and placed on the ground under the engine which was then lowered into place. Later the cement blocks were poured. A roof was added and even later canvas curtains for the sides to protect this wonderful example of POWER in early America from the elements. For more information on this wonderful museum please go to 🤍 I wrote this to answer some of the many comments I have got on this Fairbanks Morse 6 cly video. I am just a retired guy that likes old engines and has always been a fan of large stationary motors. If you take a moment to read this I think many of your questions will be answered. I had fun making the video and had no idea of the views it would generate. The 70,000 pound weight of the engine came from the museum, where it is kept. They had it trucked in several years ago and I would assume they would have a good estimate on its weight from the trucker. Many people mentioned how quite it was when running and it was quite. I would think if it had a load on it though it would have been much louder. I got the HP and RPM from the museum web page (see above). I can only assume that they know the output of the engine. The RPM is easy. That said if you go to: 🤍 and put in those numbers you come up with a whopping 94,537 foot pounds of torque! More modern 2 stroke diesel engines use a blower to push out the exhaust and replace the cylinder with fresh air. This engine uses a closed crankcase with a one way valve to create air pressure to flush the cylinder. It is a very similar system to your 2 stroke weed eater. Here is a link to a cut away of the motor with a picture of how it works: 🤍 These are great engines and they can last an incredibly long time because of their low RPM and mass. But by modern standards they are very dirty (air pollution) to run. Two stroke engines like this one that are naturally scavenged exhaust un-burnt fuel to the atmosphere. Their efficiency (hp/fuel burnt) is well below modern standards. All that said, I love them for their size and simplicity, the lack of black boxes and other things that can't be fixed with a large wrench and a bigger hammer.

Weekend trip to see Santa at the North Pole, swim in the Chena Hot Springs, and explore downtown Fairbanks. We have such an amazing time touring Interior Alaska together in this travel vlog! If you are heading to Alaska for an Alaskan Vacation make sure to check out Fairbanks and all its best tourist attractions.
Let's get ready to explore the LARGEST state in North America. Alaska! I'm excited to show- case some of the best places to visit while touring the great Alaskan outdoors. There are so many places to visit and so little time. During this 10-day trip in Alaska, we covered as much as we can see during our time visiting Alaska. I had to break this series down into 10 different videos, each covering a different day and different location in Alaska. In Day 1 of our 10 Days in Alaska, we will be visiting the city of Fairbanks, which is located along the northern aspect of Alaska's inner circle. Flying in from Seattle to Fairbanks, I have to say the airplane ride there was magnificent! Already you have the opportunity to see the beautiful snow-cap mountains and the fjords of Alaska. Only staying for 1 day in Fairbanks. I highly recommend checking out some of the places we visisted: The Crepery 👉👉 🤍 Check out the aware winning place known as The Crepery. They are known for their succulent and flavorful, sweet, and savory crepes. Check out the wide- variety of different crepes that are made to order. The Pumphouse Restaurant and Saloon 👉👉 🤍 A national historic site and restaurant! If you're looking for some great tasting seafood and meat, definitely come by and check out The PumpHouse. They accept reservations so make sure to reserve your spot in order to guarantee your spot! Cheyna Hot Springs 👉👉 🤍 If you're looking for a nice place to relax and looking for a place to simply soak, definitely come by and check out Cheyna Hot Springs. They are located ~66 miles from Fairbanks, which takes about a 1 - 1.5 hour drive. The drive is very scenic and definitely well worth the drive. Prices are relatively cheap for the duration of your hot springs stay. BRING YOUR OWN TOWEL! Otherwise you'll have to pay a $5 towel fee... A couple of things to mention. There are some department stores that Fairbanks supplies. They do have an REI, a Walmart Super center, as well as a Fred Meyers. Remember, ALASKA DOES NOT HAVE A SALES TAX! Timestamp: 00:00 Introduction to Alaska in 10 days 01:42 Fairbanks Alaska 02:46 Stopping by The Crepery 04:20 Dinner at The Pumphouse Restaurant & Saloon 08:50 Visiting the Cheyna Hotsprings Resort Please support me by hitting that 👍👍like👍👍 and subscribe button. This is our first travel vlog together. We went to explore Fairbanks, Alaska during the winter. The main reason we came here was because of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), which we saw several times! In addition, there are tons of other fun activities that can be done in Fairbanks including riding a snowmobile, dog sledding, ice fishing, dipping into a hot spring, and lots more!
